Proverbs 31:13

This is made from Jen Ulasiewicz' Antique Sewing Essentials Mini Kit, with journaling paper and antique glasses from her Notable Mini Kit and lace piece from the Primitive Christmas kit. The layout features photos from all stages of my great Grandma's life and talks about how she always sewed, crocheted, tatted and quilted. Thank you for looking!

2008 Snow

This was a fun layout to do because it is totally different than my usual. This is using Jen Ulasiewicz' "Primative Christmas" kit and her tree bark alpha. My best friend Shelley sent me the pictures via email because she knew how homesick I am! The pictures make me want to be there even more. Of course now it's raining and melting and slushy and gray. But, one can always dream!

Jen Ulasiewicz

When I started back into digital scrapbooking this fall, I somehow found out about Jen Ulasiewicz and fell in love with her stuff! She has some incredibly beautiful brushes that I am dying to use in some of my heritage albums and she has also has beautiful photo realistic flowers, dried flowers and other natural elements that are so pretty. I've really been wanting to work with these but have been busy doing things for the Heritage Scrap Creative Team and haven't had a chance. Tonight I started working with them and the next layout is one of my favorites so far.

When I first saw her Vintage Lacy papers, I had this photo in mind. This is my favorite heritage photo of my great Grandparents Fred Tisdale and Winnifred "Winnie" Kirkland Tisdale. Most of the flowers come from the Blissful Blossoms package, except for the fern, baby's breath and Lily of the Valley (she calls them "Wedding Bells"), which come from the "With This Ring" wedding kit. The music paper and ivy frame come from the Vintage Antiquities Rustic Elements package. I used Edwardian Script for the font. I think I'll be printing this one up.

This is the wedding photo of the first couple's son, my grand Uncle Clifton Tisdale and his wife Nora. She had this fancy satin wedding gown that I thought fit along with the beautiful monochromatic "With This Ring" wedding set. The font is French Script.

Thanks for stopping by and making comments. I haven't worked out how to reply for comments yet, but am working on it. I also hope to do some more posting about different ideas and organizing with digital scrapbooking and not just layouts all the time.

Catching Up On Layouts

Well, I've been busy the last couple weeks working on layouts for Heritage Scrap and it has been a lot of fun. I haven't had time to get them loaded here, so this will be a long photo intensive, catch up post.

Digizines by Teri's lovely calendar kit that makes a small desk calendar that fits into a CD jewel case. Some pages have places for multiple pictures and a small amount of journaling and some have a single photo frame. These calendar templates lend themselves well to heritage photos as you can see here in these layouts. I highly recommend this fun project available here. I made this calendar using photos of my Husband's family for his Sister and she really liked it. My only complaint... I wish it was bigger! I am going to try and print one a little larger to see how it works.

When I saw Jean Daugherty's Master Painter kit, I knew I had to use it for this photograph of my great, great grand Aunt, Grace Hopkins True. Her life was sad in that she lost her little girl Ruth and her husband early in life. But some of her art has survived and I love this picture of her painting - it reminds me of my own Aunt, also Grace Hopkins, painting - same body shape and similar style, even though they never met! The hill on the background paper is similar to what she is painting in the picture. Thanks Jean for an awesome kit! Find the kit here.

This layout was also made from Jean's Master Painter kit and I love the photo real leaves. There were several lovely backgrounds and elements for fall pages, so you don't have to have art pictures to use this beautiful kit.

I was so excited to see Lynn Griffin's Winter Roses kit at Heritage Scrap, so I could play with it. It's so beautiful and like most of her kits, quite versatile. This is my favorite photo of my Mom as a toddler and I have done several layouts with it. I thought it lent itself well to the snowflakes and beautiful snowy designs. Font is CK Child's Play.

These are photos taken this week by my best friend Shelley in Washington state. I used four kits to put this layout together. The main ingredients come from Digizines by Teri's Old Fashioned Christmas page kit, the gray snow paper and the evergreen branches come from Lynn Griffin's Christmas Cottage kit, the letters are from Digizines by Teri's Pink Ice and the silver swirls in the upper corners come from the Faerie Holidays kit. All the kits were from Heritage Scrap.

This is made using the mini Old Fashioned Christmas page kit from Digizines by Teri and the evergreen branches of Lynn Griffin's Christmas Cottage. The child is my Uncle with my Grandparents dog and puppy, Christmas 1957. All available at Heritage Scrap.

I wanted to show how the Christmas kits can be used for other types of layouts. This is my Great Grandma, who worked as a milliner (hat maker) before marrying. The hatboxes inspired me to journal about this. I used the Faerie Holiday Kit from Digizines by Teri available at Heritage Scrap.

This layout was made with the Faerie Holidays kit as well. The picture is my Mom, Grandma Hopkins and I at my wedding ten years ago.

Another layout, this time using Lynn Griffin's gorgeous Christmas Cottage kit (free with purchase before Christmas 08) available at Heritage Scrap. The font is Jane Austen from dafont.com.

My Hubby and I met in the middle of the blizzard of '96! Two years later, almost to the date, we married. Ten years later and we have multiplied and are still happily together. These snowy papers from the Winter Wilderness kit and rich textured ribbons seemed perfect for one of our wedding pictures. The evergreen branches are from Lynn Griffin's Christmas Cottage kit. Both kits are available at Heritage Scrap.

This is my favorite layout to date. I am very blessed to have some special things from my Mom's, father's family. The writing on the paper is from Sedgewick Hopkins, my ggg grandfather and the photos are of him and his wife and children except for the one from a book that is water stained which is an engraving of his grandfather and family. This was a fun layout to do and Silvia Romeo's Old Time Shoppe papers and elements lent themselves well to this layout and theme. Kit available at Heritage Scrap.

Another one from the same kit. I made this layout featuring some unlabeled photos in my files - a great example of why you should label and journal!!! This was made with Silvia Romeo's Old Time Shoppe kit. If you have "mystery family" I do recommend putting them in your album. You never know who might look at it one day and know exactly who they are! One can always hope!

This is my Uncle with their dog Viking and a puppy on my Grandparents porch Christmas time 1957. The porch looked pretty grungy and I thought it matched with the worn paper. I used the Faith Sisters Collaborative "CHRISTmas". The background came from Claudi Designs, the overlay from Digiscrapalicious, The Snowflake like designs from Lifesong Kreations by Karla and the Swirl from Nikki Painter. Kit available at Faith Sisters The font is Euphorigenic S.

Another layout with my Great Grandma as a teenager. I used the Nanna's Armoire Lace alpha from Kate McClellan and Silvia Romeo's Arabesque Revisited kit, both from Heritage Scrap. If I did this over I would probably move the bird a little, because it looks like the beak will poke her brains out! LOL

I love this baby photo of my great Grandma, taken about 1906. I used the soft and beautiful papers and elements available in Silvia Romeo's "Arabesque Revisited", from Heritage Scrap.

Balitz, Belitz, Baylitz

Here is another layout from Silvia Romeo's Masterpieces Add On kit. I added paper backing the photo, blue button and had pin from from Jean Daughterty's Brocade and Lace kit, tag from Silvia's The Garden kit, and tassels from Silvia's Serendipity kit. Sometimes you have to go searching for just the right piece to complete the look! The young woman standing on the right is my Great, Great Grandma and the folks seated are my Great, Great, Great Grandparents who came from Prussian Germany to Wisconsin and then settled in western Michigan.

Another Wedding Layout

I'm still playing with these wedding photos. It is fun blending the photo to create my own backgrounds. These rich and warm papers and elements come from Silvia Romeo's Masterpieces kit at HeritageScrap.com. I'm not usually a bling girl, but I liked how these looked with the photo. The font is CK Elegant from Creating Keepsakes.

Alden and Holly

This is of my grandparents, who were high school sweethearts. When they got married there were lots of pink roses and Grandma wore her birthstone, pearls, so when I saw Clohie Watkins Mrs. Watkins' Pink Wonders digitally painted roses and her pearls and roses kit, I knew I had to do something with this picture. Both are availabe at heritagescrap.com.

John and Monique

Here are two more pages using Clohie Watkins' Pearls and Roses kit and gorgeous digitally painted roses, both available at Heritage Scrap. For the second photo of the bride, I placed her on a background paper that had coloring in the lace and stronger texture. I liked the water color look it gave. I also altered the pearls and roses by removing some of the pink tint from them because the bride's bouqet is peach roses. This is a very easy color adjustment to make.

Monique

We are a bunch of sickies around here today, so we are vegging out - the kids are playing with their Legos and I am playing on my laptop! :-) I worked on some more layouts for Heritage Scrap using Clohie Watkins' gorgeous digitally painted roses and Pearls and Roses kit. This photographic is from a garden wedding I photographed a few years ago. The wedding was beautiful with lots of roses in different colors and this impressionist style paper looked just like the wedding setting.

Beatrice E. Smith

Here's another layout of my Great Grandma. She loved "Bewitched" roses which produced large, fragrant pink blooms, so I thought these roses from Lynn Griffin's Soft Devotion and Add On kit at heritagescrap.com would be perfect for a layout about her.

Beatrice Smith

This page is made using Lynn Griffin's Baby Robin and Soft Devotion kits. I made one page with the Baby Robin kit using modern photos of my girls. I wanted to show how versatile these kits can be - working for 5 year old pictures and 100+ year old pictures. The papers are from Baby Robin, as well as the journaling elements, butterfly and one flower. The frame and other flowers are from the Soft Devotion kit. Font for printing is Cambria math and for title is Edwardian Script

Twins

Here's another break from the red and green layouts! :o) This layout of my girls is from Lynn Griffin's Baby Robin kit, available at heritagescrap.com. The small pictures in the upper right corner show my girls wearing a doll's dress that my Mom made to match my Christmas Angel flannel nightie that she made me when I was about four. They were about 4 days old in that picture. The larger one is by my Mom and I turned it into a sepia print.

Snow

Well, with all those Christmas kits and layouts, I needed a break from the traditional red and green, so I tried out my Winter Wonderland Collaborative kit from Faith Sisters. Since purple is my favorite color, this was a fun break. I love all the snow papers out there right now, but unfortunately have very few snow pictures to scrap. Where I live it hasn't snowed since the 40s!
I used a button from Gretchen Tripp's contribution, a frame from Eressea Design and most of Paula Phillips' contribution to the collaborative. The font is CK Windsong (Creating Keepsakes).

Thy Word

This isn't one of those layouts that is an artistic masterpiece, but it is special to me because my Grandmother gave me an incredible legacy of faith. This layout tells about when she bought me my first Bible when I was in first grade. I used Nikki Painter's Perfect Grace kit available at Faith Sisters, which was perfect because my Grandma had everything pink in her house! The stamp with the Scripture word art is from Kreative Karma, also at Faith Sisters.

Memories

These two were made with Lynn Griffin's lovely Warmest Wishes Page Kit available at heritagescrap.com.

Hoh Rain Forest

This is going to be the title page in the section of my summer vacation for our trip to the Hoh Rain Forest in Olympic National Park. It is so beautiful there! I am having fun being able to use my own photography any size I want with digital scrapbooking!
For this page I used my photo of the "Hall of Mosses" and decreased the opacity, so that it blended with the background paper. I used a kit from Scrapbook Elements called Bear Grass Summit. The designer, Jeri Ingalls has several kits that work well for nature photography, camping, hiking and being in the outdoors. I hope to get more in the future. The letters came from the November Scrapbook Artisan's Guild kit by Dee Brestin.

Christmas 1969, Page Two

Here is another style of layout with the same picture as the last post. This one I made for Heritage Scrap, using Lynn Griffin's Holiday Home kit. I like how you can use this kit to dress things up or countrify your page.

Christmas Past

This is a bittersweet page as both my Grandma Johnson and my brother Danny are in Heaven. But, it was fun to do something different than my usual style. The bird reminded me of bird ornaments we had during that time. I used the Storybook Christmas collaborative kit from Scrap Artist and the font is Spread Sunshine from Two Peas In A Bucket.

Home

I just finished this and I am so excited! This is the first layout where I have used one of my own photographs as a background/element. This layout is about visiting my Grandma Hopkins' home this summer. It was sold several years ago and I was very sad. The beautiful home was built by my Grandpa beginning in 1929. The owner has made several changes, some of which were difficult to see, but I can understand that they were necessary. Most of all it was exciting to see that it is being taken care of and not torn down to build track housing on its almost 4 acres. Journaling circles the picture of the house, with words that describe memories of my times there. The rest of the journaling talks about how you can't really go home, it's never quite the same. And even though I was walking through my Grandma's home, it felt a little sad and empty without her sitting in her chair reading a book or her Bible! She truly was the heart of the home!

The other papers and elements for this page came from Veronica Spriggs' rich and beautiful kit, Along Mulberry Lane and available at Heritage Scrap. The name was fitting, as Grandma had a big white mulberry tree just to the left and cut out of the picture. I can't wait to do some more layouts with this kit!

Three Generations of Hopkins Women

This is one of my favorite pictures from the wedding of my Mom, my Grandma Hopkins and me. Since Grandma's suit was bright blue, I used a vintage effect to neutralize the photo. I was so blessed to have her alive and healthy for my wedding. Two years later she went Home. This is another page using Kate McClellan's beautiful Vintage Valentine papers in Le Creme and Le Rouge along with Lynn Griffin's Holiday Home page kit, both available at Heritage Scrap. See links in the previous post.

December Bride

You'll be tired of seeing our faces soon as I seek to find the perfect layout to commemorate our ten years together. This one is made from Kate McClellan's gorgeous Victorian Valentine papers in Le Creme and Le Rouge at Heritage Scrap. The poinsettias, evergreen branches and frame come from Lynn Griffin's Holiday Home, also from Heritage Scrap.

Belitz, Balitz, Baylitz Family

I used the A Few Of My Favorite Things kits from Sarah Meyers at Digitalscrapbookpages.com. This picture was such an exciting find from a cousin in Michigan that I met while doing research online. I had never seen my Great, Great Grandmother, who is standing in the back on the right. I love the color and pattern on these background pages and the letters are just beautiful and fitting for a lot of heritage projects.

Beatrice Smith

This is my Great Grandma Bea who was born in August 1905, so this photo was taken in 1906 - almost 102 years ago! This is the left side of a two page spread, so the actual journaling is on the other side. I think she looks cute with her fat little face and lacy little gown.

I used Verena Karolyi's "Tenderness" kit from Digital Scrapbook Art. Thanks for looking.

Autumn Fun

This layout was done with Julia Makotinsky's Autumn Radiance kit from Little Dreamer Designs. This was fun, but a stretch for me. I love working in heritage styles best and am trying to stretch myself to try some new things. I don't think I have whimsy quite down yet! I'm finding that one of my biggest creativity blocks is trying to be to "matchy matchy" and so I am working on breaking that, but it is often like what my Mom calls "planning to be spontaneous"! LOL These pictures need something fun. So you may see me trying another layout with them.

Christmas Bride

As our tenth wedding anniversary approaches this month, I'll probably be posting several wedding layouts. We didn't have a professional wedding photography and that is the only thing I would change if I could about our wedding. Still, this is my favorite picture of the day because it shows exactly how HAPPY I was. I cannot remember ever feeling so much joy in my being, except perhaps the day I accepted Christ and was baptised.

The background papers and corner brackets are from Julie Jorgenson's Vintage Bride kit at Scrapbook Elements. She has some really lovely papers. The evergreen's are Verena Karolyi's silver fir branches, which I added to a ribbon and flower cluster from Teri Hanson's new preview kit on sale now - Winter Wilderness. She has some really lovely things in this kit! I can't wait to play with it more.

Happy Birthaversary Mom!

Well, I've been working hard to get this blog up and running in time to post this as a "birthaversary surprise" for my Mom who celebrates her birthday and her anniversary on December 12th. I missed it by 14 minutes! But I love you Mom! I love you Jack! And I wish you many more happy years together! I had fun creating this page from Teri Hanson's beautiful A Winter's Day kit. The letters are from the Christmas Pearl Alpha Pack Plus.

Legacy of Love

The top layout is the left hand side and the bottom the right of this, my favorite layout spread. Not only do I love the photos and colors, but it was the first layout where I started playing and experimenting and while working on it, I became thoroughly and completely in LOVE with digital scrapbooking!
When I first saw the flowers in the Cherished Memory Kit and cluster package at Scrapbooking Heaven I thought of my Grandma Hopkins and the flowers from her 1930 wedding bouquet which were pressed and painted and hung behind glass on her dining room wall. I had fun with six generations of family photos, as well as using the cluster and forming my own cluster by copying and cutting parts of the flowers and putting them back together. Even if noone ever likes this layout, it will remain a favorite in my heart!

Special Delivery

I wrote earlier that you would probably see this picture again, and here it is! :o) This is Teri Hanson's Champs de Lavande Collection that I purchased at Heritage Scrap. I'm not sure of the source of the "special delivery" letters.

Autumn Fun!

Our children had so much fun playing in the leaves at the park in November and this layout was fun to create as well. The background papers are from Teri Hanson's Cabin Holiday kit at Heritage Scrap. The other elements are from Jean Daugherty's wonderful Spiced Cider kit. The journaling paper came from one of Lynn Griffin's kits, but sadly I didn't write down which one. And the letters came out of unnamed files, so I don't know who to credit.

Sugar Plum Lane Kits at Heritage Scrap

Heritage Scrap has some lovely kits in their December designer Sugar Plum Lane collaborative

The background papers come from Teri Hanson's kit and the frame from Jean Daugherty's kit. The lovely ribbons and poinsettia flowers come from Silvia Romeo's kit.

This is again with cream paper and ribbons from Silvia Romeo's kit and the frame and green background paper is from Jean Daugherty's kit. The cute little girl is my Mommy! :o)
